MEET SAMUEL G. SCHNEIDER
I am an upcoming graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Geospatial Analysis and Technologies from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I am also pursuing a certificate in Information Systems and a Geospatial Certificate in Remote Sensing. I participated in a study abroad experience in the spring of 2018 to Aberdeen, Scotland. I have also participated in international research surrounding using ground penetrating radar to investigate, identify, and preserve Holocaust sites in Lithuania during the summer of 2019. I currently am interning at Michels Corporation in the Construction Technology department, focusing on Mapping and Spatial Data. I have obtained a FAA Part 107 sUAS/remote pilot certificate. I am interested in furthering my skills in GIS, remote sensing, LiDAR, ground penetrating radar, and UAS at a graduate school or within a company setting. Click the PDF icon below to see my resume.
ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
December 2019
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE, UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-EAU CLAIRE, EAU CLAIRE, WI
During my nine semesters at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC) I earned a degree in Geospatial Analysis and Technologies. I also earned a Certificate of Information Systems and a Geospatial Certificate - Remote Sensing Emphasis. I participated in a semester long study abroad experience at the University of Aberdeen in Aberdeen, Scotland during the spring of 2018. I participated in multiple faculty lead research projects.
Summer 2018
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE, INTERNATIONAL FELLOWS PROGRAM (IFP)
For three weeks in the summer of 2018 I traveled to Lithuania to conduct research using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and global positioning systems (GPS) to search for Lithuanian Holocaust mass burials, destroyed Jewish religious buildings, Lithuanian Hillforts, and Curonian Spit sand dunes. This data was collected, processed, and presented by four students including myself.
Spring 2018
STUDY ABROAD, UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN, ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND
During the spring of 2018 I traveled to Aberdeen, Scotland to study abroad. I was fully immersed in a foreign culture overnight. I learned many different things about Scotland and about myself. I took courses within my discipline and outside of my discipline while abroad. On my spring break trip I backpacked across Europe for a month.

PROJECTS
CERCA Research Poster - Subsurface Imaging of Bilioniai Hillfort, Lithuania
This research poster was presented at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA). This research poster revolves around my IFP research trip to Lithuania in the summer of 2018. A GPR survey was conducted on top of a hillfort in Lithuania. This hillfort location had been previously excavated. There were remarkable results showing promising supplemental evidence with the archaeological excavations. Contact me for a more in-depth look at this poster.
CERCA Research Poster - Locating the Former Synagogue of Seduva, Lithuania
This research poster was presented at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA). This research poster revolves around my IFP research trip to Lithuania in the summer of 2018. A GPR survey was conducted over a pavement parking lot in Seduva, Lithuania. The desired target was a buried synagogue during WWII. A plan was devised on the best possible way to identify any buried structures. The GPR survey was executed and the results were coined as some of the best GPR grids/profiles ever seen! Contact me for a more in-depth look at this poster.
Bathymetric Mapping Project
Using sonar points collected on a boat, water body shapefiles, and aerial imagery this bathymetric map was created. From the sonar points a TIN was created, this TIN was then transformed into a raster image to be symbolized based on water depth. Contour lines were added afterwards in ArcMap. The final map was edited and styled within Adobe Illustrator.
